I love Halloween and I love wearing a Halloween costume. However, this was not always the case.
There’s no place for a Halloween costume when you are a grown up.
As the eldest child in my family I felt I had to take care of everyone. Including my mother. This caused me to act very adult-like and serious. With the burden of responsibilities on my shoulders I felt that Halloween costumes were a thing of the past.
Fortunately, I came to my senses when I emotionally connected with my favorite Disney character. You can check that story out here.
Let your imagination run free.
Being an adult, with many responsibilities can damper your creative juices. If you are not careful, you can become bitter and rigid.
It’s not silly and childish to indulge in creating a Halloween costume. However, many adults would not be caught dead in a Halloween costume.
Unfortunately, this is only one example of the things we let adulthood rob from us. There are many. Some people lose that imaginative spark required to write stories, or paint and draw. Forget about playing dolls with your little daughter. You are above that. You’re an adult.
You get where I’m going with this. We have to allow ourselves the freedom to have fun. And creating a Halloween costume is a great place to start.
I have created some doozies.
In my years I have created a whimsical Halloween costume to a downright Eerie one.
I’m going to share some with you here. Then I will leave you with the eeriest Halloween costume ever. Hold on to your britches, it’s really eerie.
Here is a silly one I wore when I was 18 years old.
I did dress up in drag one year. Fortunately, there aren’t any photos to document that horrible incident.
But, I kind of looked like this.
I tried the firefighter too
One year I wore this Halloween costume for my special needs clients.
I also became a pirate for them.
Here’s a whimsical Halloween costume I wore that left me feeling very vulnerable.
(The tights were just too tight!!)
Uncle Fester was a little eerie and whimsical
I became this eerie vampire for my clients.
(It was a little too much for some)
And Now…..
The Eeriest Halloween Costume
LOL!! I hope you enjoyed my impersonation. That was eerie wasn’t it?
You can tell me how silly I am in the comments below.
